Player Pathway

The outline below shows the programs that each player can every parent and player has the opportunity to participate in.

Through our unique membership with NCYSA, each player will have multiple opportunities to focus on player development, and they will have a direct pathway to an opportunity to participate on the US Men's National soccer teams!  This is one of the main benefits of our club, providing a clear and simple pathway to the highest levels of play in the state.

U4-U12 Recreation

Who This Program is For:  Parents and Players who simply want to play and have FUN!

The Recreation program is designed as an in house program that focuses on players having fun and developing their love of the game.   There is also a competitive nature to the game as matches are scheduled weekly for players and teams.

Even though there is a competitive element, primary emphasis is placed on players simply enjoying the game, and participating in matches where the end result isn't the only result.  Scores are not recorded in our recreation league, and all players receive medals at the end of the season for their continued participation.

Building a love for the game is important in this age group and we work hard to make it as fun as possible for all players.  Our primary intention is to help players develop their skill level through experience, as well as help players grow their life-long love of the game.

U8-U12 Youth Academy Program

Who This Program is For:  Parents and Players who want weekly practices but WITHOUT the commitment of matches every weekend.  This level focuses more on DEVELOPMENT but WITHOUT the requirements of competitive play that includes matches every weekend.

The Academy program is for boys and girls ages 7-11 who want more practices than offered with recreation, and who want to become a more skilled player.  Players will train as a pool of player and will attend  4-5 showcases throughout the year, including the NCYSA Academy Showcases at the end of the fall and spring seasons.  This is a year round program that really focuses on player development, community involvement, and a player centered training.

U11-U19 Competitive Play

Who This Program is For:  Parents and Players who want weekly practices AND want to play highly competitive matches each weekend.

The Competitive Play pathway is for the more advanced and older players looking to play in an every weekend environment during the off-season from their high school or middle school teams

Typically these teams will play year round if they are U14 or younger, and only seasonally if U15 or older.

This level of play is completed through NCYSA sanctioned leagues such as the NC Youth Soccer Spring and Fall "Classic" Leagues, USYS Piedmont League, and USYS National League.  These teams do require travel on the weekends for half of the season for the away matches only.

Parents assume a large responsibility for players in this league, ensuring that all players have transport to and from away matches.  Travel is not that extensive, with a majority of opponents being within 1 hour away or less.

Tryouts do occur for these teams, and players must accept their place on the team and make their initial payments before a deadline to lock in their place on the team.

This team will only play in one end of season tournament, and participate in a league play which will require a weekly and every weekend commitment if the league schedule dictates, but often comes in a twice a month league style of play.  Tournaments can include the NC State Cup, Kepner/President's Cup, and other USYS National Championship Series Tournaments.

Olympic Development Program (ODP) and US National Team

Club players are often recommended and given the opportunity to participate in the ODP team player pool throughout the year, with many regional and national matches taking place during the year.  Players also travel out of state, and sometimes out of country to take on other national and regional teams.

These pool players often make the Youth National teams, and sometimes even the mens or womens national teams.  This pool of players is traditionally where all national team players are selected from.  This is the highest level of play in the nation, and in the state of North Carolina (along with the USYS National League).

The ODP Program is administered by NCYSA and more information on that program can be found here:
